Melody on a poem by Joël Terrin, for baritone and piano

This work was commissioned by the HEMU Foundation (Haute École de Musique de Lausanne) at the request of the baritone Joël Terrin, with a view to a show “Concert canvas, painting on voice”, uniting music and painting around the work of the French painter Silvère Jarrosson. The goal of the project imagined by J. Terrin was to offer a program of songs with piano in parallel with the creation of paintings by the painter in front of the public. In this perspective, this melody composed after a text by S. Jarrosson symbolizes an exciting form of fusion of the arts: inspired by the painter's thoughts, the poem was written by the performer himself and its interpretation inspired the painter's creation in return.
